Cold Dip Little Shuswap Blues: Saturday, November 2nd

It came to me that reform should begin at home, and since that day I have not had time to remake the world. -Will Durant, historian (1885-1981)

Up at 9:15 am after waking up, boiling to death, in the downstairs, front bedroom. Cora Lee had closed the door when she came to bed. With the electric floorboard heater on the place had literlly turned into a sauna. I de-camped to the small couch in the living room where temperature was tolerable. I would have liked the large settee but Jazz was there ensconced so I folded myself up, for an hour or so, there and after much tossing and turning, decided to try upstairs. Was very cool and poifect for sleeping so I luxuriated there until I heard a bit of commotion coming from downstairs.

Polar bear swimmers, Patrick Dunn and Rick Toews at Little Shuswap Lake Nov. 2nd.
Found Ricardo reclining in his LaZ-Boy so we chatted over our java. Cora Lee and Little White joined us a few minutes later and then The Sisterhood set about making brunch. Cora Lee whippe dup a frittata and fried some turkey, cranberry sausages along with double smoked bacon. While all this was bubbling away, Ricardo and I donned our trunks and went into the lake for a very, very brief dip. Not as cold as I thought it would be but still pretty invogorating, let me tell you! Just an in and out but the air temperature seemed positively tropical once we were back on the beach.

Into the cabin for a quick shower and then we enjoyed the scrumptious food. While Cora Lee took her shower Ruthless did the dishes while Ricardo and I “rested” in the living room. When everthing and everyone was tidied up we sat down to finish the rubber of bridge we had started the evening before. Ruthless and I managed to make it a quick one this time, winning a slow rubber the first time. Needless to say, Ricardo was fussed at our obvious skill and superior bidding powers!

Plan to go for a walk once the rain eases up. Were treated to a heavy snow squall while playing but thick, wet flakes stopped after half an hour or so. Nothing stcuk but it was a lovely spectacle, especially looking across the lake towards Chase. South shore is completely socked in with low, low cloud. The cabin is situated right on the tip of Reed's Point so it affords a magnificent, sweeping view of Little Shuswap.

Will go for a walk once Cora Lee and Ricardo come back from going to buy a paper.

Pat has generously offered the Islay Inn to host the gathering. If you have not finished reading the book please bring at least one bottle of rare single malt. If you cannot attend send two bottles.

The book is Blood's a Rover, James Ellroy (Victor). The title to follow: Blood by Lawrence Hill (George). Pat will pick the book to follow Blood. See ya there, G

you say Patricio will pick the bottle to follow Blood?

P,

the real story is: had to change name from seuss to son to respond to racial tension around incessant rhyming, tall hats and other quirks like the naming disorder.
