Alcuin Society Blues: Saturday, November 16th

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe. -John Muir, naturalist, explorer, and writer (1838-1914)

Thoroughly Rotten and Ricardo!

Hi Lynn!

Thanks for wonderful news! We are seeing Joan today as we are picking her up to take her to the Alcuin Society Annual Book Auction of submissions to the 2012 Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada at the UBC Golf Course. Went last year, for the first time, and it was very interesting and loads of fun. Cheers, Patrizzio!
See you there.

Hi Tinsel Town Chef!

Sounds more than scrumptioso! Perhaps a brunch dish for November 24th? As it now turns out Lauren cannot come on that date as it is her cousin's son's birthday. However, she now wants to come over for Thanksgiving, after 5-6:00 pm. I will tell her that that is fine but also suggest she pop over during the week as we live in same community, for goodness sakes! Anyway, Henie, (I connected with her through LinkedIn), would like to come on Sunday. Is that okay with you?

To happier thoughts, however. Let me know if you would be pleased to include Henie. Perhaps you might wish to contact her yourself. Not sure where your relationship stands so didn't want to blunder in. From what I gather you have simply drifted apart. I'd like to actually meet her as I only "know" her through email, blogs, etc., but not if it will be uncomfortable for you.

We are off to the Alcuin Society Annual Book Auction of submissions to the 2012 Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada at the UBC Golf Course, for lunch today. Went last year, for the first time, and it was very interesting and loads of fun. Quite a few former library colleagues usually attend so it is a great opportunity to catch up as well as picking up some attractive, early Christmas presents. Fondestos, Love and Cheers, Poppa "We Don't Need No Stinkin' Recipes for Dad's Delight" San!

PS: Nana just talked to Erich and she will pop by tomorrow afternoon for a visit and to pick up some of John's things for you. I'd like to go to see him but I'm not sure if I'll have time, given all the things I have to do before leaving on Monday. Have my Book Club on Sunday evening, here, and have a little more than half of current selection to read. James Ellroy's Blood's a Rover, last of trilogy which started with LA Confidential. Gripping read, (Fussy Agatha Christie/Dick Francis Nana doesn't like his more than hard-bitten style!), but simply need time to finish the 633 pages!

Hi Beatricce!

I talked to Ayn yesterday and we are planning to have the gathering on Sunday, November 24th. Another friend of Ayn's will be joining us so we thought that we'd have a late lunch. Guests can come whenever timing suits, (bring your swim suit and have a hot-tub if so inclined), and we can visit before, during and after meal. This way people, especially non-Simi Valley folk, won't have to drive at night.

Must away as we are off to the Alcuin Society Annual Book Auction of submissions to the 2012 Awards for Excellence in Book Design in Canada at the UBC Golf Course, for lunch today. Quite a few former library colleagues usually attend so it is a great opportunity to catch up as well as picking up some attractive, early Christmas presents. Fondestos from Cora Lee. Cheers, Patrizzio!

I am totally okay with Henie coming over...I am over Lauren though. I have tried to introduce her to a few great women a couple times now but I am throwing in the towel. She never returns calls.

Will still be nice to meet her but I am not connecting a flake with good friends. Maybe she'll pick up the ball on her own some day but so far I am not impressed. Henie and I are fine we just haven't seem each other much . Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Hi again, Henie:

I talked to Ayn today and we are planning to have the gathering on Sunday, November 24th. Another friend, from Pasadena, will be joining us so we thought that we'd have a late lunch. Great that you can join us. Cheers, Patrizzio!
