No man, or body of men, can dam the stream of language. -James Russell Lowell, poet, editor, and diplomat (1819-1891)
Hi Pat,
Hi Pat,
Had a lot of reading to do to catch up on the goings on at the Islay Inn! Now feel up to date with all the news!
Too
windy and cold for a bike ride today so we stayed indoors all day and
did a few of those jobs that you never really get around to doing; in my
case putting
up a Roman blind in the sewing room and in Tina’s case going through
the wardrobes and throwing out all of my old clothes!
I’m
not looking forward to tomorrow as I have to take Dad to a nursing
home; he’s initially going in for respite care – Mum needs a break as
she’s really
tired and is starting to show signs of being unwell. I managed to find a
beautiful home just a short distance from us – closer to Don and Anne
actually – that is only a couple of years old; I’ll be close enough to
visit regularly and keep an eye on him until
he gets used to it. It’s far enough away so that Mum won’t be there
every day; when she wants to visit him she can get a taxi to our place
and I can take her to the home for a few hours then pick her up, bring
her back here for a meal before taking her home.
Hope it all works out.
Once
I get Dad settled in I have to rush into the city to sort out his
affairs with Veterans Affairs – submit Powers of Attorney etc so that I
can look after
their finances to take a load off Mum’s shoulders. From
there it’s off to the girl’s school to pick up Mya and Jade and take
them to gymnastics before having dinner with Mark and Bree.
While
I’m doing all this Tina is taking her Mum for her first cancer
treatment! This will be first of three weeks of daily treatment – I’m
sure Don will step
in and help Tina out whenever he can so that she can still do her
weekly walking and cycling commitments.
As
you can doubt tell it’s not a particularly pleasant time in our lives
at this point in time – just what the future holds for our parents is
somewhat up
in the air but we are both absolutely determined that we will do
whatever we can to make their lives as comfortable and dignified as
possible. I guess you know exactly what the feeling is as you’ve been there yourself! Talk again soon. Ooroo for now
Ps: Tell Raymond the Lions were just a tad lucky – still bad kicking is bad rugby I guess!
Kent: 111.7 K over 5:35:35, AVG 19.9 KPH, (Not sure what happened but when I looked at odometre readings after I pulled up outside the Heartache Terrace, AVG displayed at 20.0 KPH bit when I invoked readings while at my laptop, 19.9 KPH reared its ugly head!), MAX 54.3 KPH.
Dear Foldable Bike People!
I will be traveling in Britain and France for the next three months, (as of July 10th), and I have ordered a Navigator from Evans Cycles in York. Have not yet decided between the 19" and 21" frame, until I test ride both.
Not a big deal but I thought that I would ask whether Montague might be interested in giving me a couple of your T shirts and I would wear them proudly, advertising your wares when I am in Yorkshire,(July), Cornwall, (August), and Languedoc. Tour de France went through the village of Neffiès, where I have rented a house, with friends, for September, a year or so ago. At the end of September I will be on a canal cruise, along the Canal du Midi, for two weeks, and will suggest to the company that perhaps they should consider offering foldable bikes, Bikes that they provide are fine for riding along the canal but my friends and I are interested in exploring the surrounding countryside and your foldable road bike is the perfect solution!
Anyway, thought I's see what you think of making me an "unofficial" company rep. Of course, I understand if you are unable to provide me with a shirt or shirts. Cheers, Patrick Dunn!

Hi my name is Kristine Pawluk, I got your contact info from
Sabrina Szederkenyi, she said you might be subletting your condo for one
month and I would be interested. I am 50 years old and just starting a
new job with Telus in July, I need a place
to stay while I work and look for a place to live in the Kitsilano
area, if you are interested you can email or call me with the dates it's
available and what you are charging for rent, thank you!
