Blackwater Blues: Monday, August 19th

To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting. -Edmund Burke, statesman and writer (1729-1797)

View out my window. Mmmm I like my house:)

  • Patrick James Dunn So do I! However, what are Maggie's thoughts?

  • Wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all for the wining and dining over the last three days/nights and the birthday love and wishes!!! I have good people in my life, love you!!
Today we drove into Truro to park and then took boat to Falmouth. Across quay to hop on ferry to St Mawes where we lunched on lovely Fish & Chips at The Idle Rocks and then strolled to castle, delighting in exploring its many rooms and levels. Back to Falmouth to walk to railway station to return to Truro and then walked downhill to car. Home for overlefts and mixed, green salad with sliced fresh peaches on on mini-meringues drizzled with Cornish cream and next four episodes of Game of Thrones! Bed by 1:30pm but supposed to be a "lazy" day tomorrow to ready ourselves for Land's End and Minack on Wednesday. Almost wish I was Spudnik, lying around all day with nothing to do but enjoy the garden! Hope to talk to you tomorrow evening as I gather you will be having dinner at The Loft!

Dear Patrick,
Planning is well under way for the 2013 Vancouver Writers Fest! Program guides have arrived and we need volunteers to help with distribution throughout Metro Vancouver.
Distribution volunteers are a key part of the Festival team, helping to get the word out on the streets and increase vital public awareness about the Writers Fest.
Volunteers are responsible for delivering program guides to locations within an assigned zone, along with keeping those locations stocked until the end of the Festival.
We need volunteers to cover the following areas:
  • Main Street
  • Commercial Drive
  • Point Grey & UBC
  • South Granville
  • Tri-Cities
  • Surrey
  • Delta
  • Richmond
If you can take responsibility for keeping a route stocked between now and the end of the Festival, please contact me as soon as possible! In your response please indicate your top 3 zone preferences from the list above.
A minimum of 15-20 hours is expected.
Qualifications:
*You must able to lift and carry 5-10 kg and walk short distances as necessary
*Must be able to work independently but also enjoy working with people
*Fluency in English is an asset.
*Use of car is helpful, but delivery by bicycle and/or on foot is possible as well.
Distribution is a great way to get in the door as a volunteer before the festival begins and to free up your time Festival Week to see events!
I look forward to hearing from you.

Volunteer Assistant

Hi Meghan!

Both Corinne and I will not be back in Vancouver until October 19th, just in time to help out with VWF, doing Hospitality, probably. Buona Fortuna with Distribution. Cheers, Patrizzio!
