Up at 5:50 am as The Maggster was wanting to be fed and more than insistent about it. Once her hunger was satisfied I was bale to work away at email until just after 8:00 am. Cora lee was up by then and we both had a bit of breakfast before we started on all the chores we needed to do before leaving for the weekend. She went to Granville Island to shop for some of the food we planned to take to Little Shuswap and I raided the wine cellar for hootch. Had packed by the time she was back from GI so had shower while she drove to Tisol for cat food for Maggie. By the time she was back adn I'd loaded Titanium Green it was close to noon. We said goodbye to Clarisse and Dusty and made for the open road.Traffic was quite light...

Hi folks, Money has been deposited. Have a great weekend. xx
Hi Chloë!
Thanks for deposits. This just in from Switzerland:
Hi Patrick
How are you doing? Quite a long time since we have heard from each other. My life has tremendously improved since I found a girlfriend which suits me much better, I did spend earlier this year 3 weeks in Thailand with her, last year in Antalya, Turkey and this Saturday we'll go to London for almost a week for some shopping, sightseeing and some culture.
Unfortunately I do not have much time to write now but after London you'll hear from me.
Well, Nao will be in Vancouver from November 12th onwards and she wants to visit you, are you now there or travelling around? Do you have any cell she could reach you? So take care and until later. Cheers, Stefan Part of my reply:
Hello Stefano!
How wonderful to receive your message and know that things are going so well for you! Congratulations on the companion front. From what you say, you are enjoying a fair bit of travelling. Terrific! Of course we'd be more than delighted to see Nao so please tell her to get in touch, (604-734-9200, (home), 604-512-6462, (Cora Lee's cell), #20-1425 Lamey's Mill Road, V6H 3W2, in case she doesn't have phone/address details), as soon as she is settled or even by email, sooner.
Trust David is well. How is Bruno? Your mother? Please send best wishes and fond regards to everyone.
Maggie was scratching at patio door this morning, after being fed, so she seems to be getting even more pushy! Will be in touch once back from the Okanagan. Love, Dad

Hello Stefano!
To back up a bit, we had a marvellous holiday this past summer/fall ourselves. Left Vancouver for London on July 10th to spend a week there with close friend, Penny, and then to Wetherby, in Yorkshire, with more close friends, Christine and Jim, for ten days or so. I had arranged to buy a Navigator, (a foldable road bike), there and was absolutely delighted with it. Since it collapses, more or less, upon itself, it was relatively easy to stow in our rental cars and carry on trains.
Towards the end of July we made our way to Cornwall, via Somerset, stopping in Bath and at Stonehenge en route, to meet two third cousins that Corinne had tracked down. Lovely, lovely relatives, most welcoming, (One couple, Chris and Mandy, even gave us the keys to their incredible cottage, in Devon, for two nights, even though they were unable to join us there!), and we hope to visit them on subsequent trips to England. On to Blackwater, near Truro, to do a house exchange for all of August. We knew Gayle/Derek through their daughter, Krissy, who worked with Chloë at the Granville Island Brewery.
Had a more than delightful time in Cornwall and Ayn came to visit for 10 days so that was fun. Back to London for two days and on September 2nd I took Eurostar to Paris and then TGV to Béziers in Languedoc, about an hour from Montpellier. I had rented a fabulous house for all of September. For her part, Cora Lee flew to Rome to meet friends from her Book Club. She travelled with one girlfriend for two weeks before meeting rest of women. They had rented a villa near Sienna to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their Book Club. She had never been to Rome, Bologna, Venice and Cinque Terra before so it was an especially exciting holiday in this marvellous country.
She took the train, from Florence, to join me for most of the last week of September, in Nèffies, tiny village where house was located. I had had nothing but a grand time, cycling, sightseeing, drinking the fabulous wine and just generally having fun. Jamie, friend from London, visited for a little over a week but I was more than happy to be by myself for much of the time. Had so much to see and do that I was never, ever lonely and actually found the relative solitude to be quite refreshing.
Anyway, on September 28th we drove to Agen, about 120 km south of Bordeaux where we joined Flamin' and Sarge, and two other couples, for a two week canal barge trip on the Canal de Garonne. Great, great time and I particularly enjoyed cycling away from the canal, exploring the surrounding countryside. On October 12th we rented another car in Agen to drive to Valanece, (across the Massif Central where we had snow!), to stay for three nights with friends, Rosemary and Andre. Had a chance for a day of wine tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape as village is only about an hour and a half south of Chabeuil, tiny village near Valence where these friends actually live. On October 15th we said goodbye, leaving my bike and all my cycling gear, (and half a case of wine!), there and took TGV to Paris for two nights. Had an incredible apartment, just around the corner, literally, from the Pompidou Centre, so it was a glorious, if brief visit to this fabulous city. On to London, via Eurostar, on October 17th to stay with Penny for two nights. Most of time was spent re-packing, as you can imagine, and then home to Vancouver on October 19th!
Life had been quite a whirlwind, even before we returned to Vancouver, (If it's Tuesday it must be Paris!), as I've just described, after being away for a little more than 13 weeks!
Much more to tell but need to finish this missive. Later this morning we are driving to Little Shuswap, about an hour from Kamloops, to spend weekend with Ruth/Rick, friends from Squamish, at their very comfortable cabin there. Will spend Sunday night in the Okanagan, in Naramata, with close friends Lynne/Peter. hey have a simply gorgeous home overlooking vineyards and Lake Okanagan. Want to stock up on some of the fabulous white wines now being produced there. Back to Vancouver on Monday as Cora Lee had meetings, meetings, meetings to do with all her various other volunteer activities/responsibilities!
Have a wonderful time in London! Fondestos and Cheers for now, Patrizzio!
Hi Brenda Louise!
Thanks for pics of Opening. Gather all went well.
Been very busy last few days, recovering from VWF. Cora Lee's parents arrived yesterday so lovely to have them here again.
We plan/hope to leave Vancouver between 10:00 am-11:00 am so imagine we might come knocking around 3:00 pm +/-. Hope that is convenient. If not, don't worry. Ruth/Rick will not be at their cabin until between 6:00 pm-8:00 pm but we know where the key is so we can simply got straight there if you are otherwise engaged. However, do hope we can connect. Lots to catch up on. If you read this message, let me know what you think and we'll plan accordingly. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Giggenheimer:
Just like you changed your name to hise your Whitehorse origins. As well as Zeus, himself, changed his form to hide his origins with Leda, et al!
If you picked up phone message, you already know that I cannot ride this morning. Haven't even looked at forecast but hope you are bale to go for a jaunt. had a very pleasant Keats' ride yesterday: "Season of mists and mellow frutifullness!"
Stats for Thursday's ride:

Guess what? Captain Barnacle might well come to Simi Valley! Sure you cannot be convinced to join us? What a combo!!! Therapy on the road, in the car and on the stump! Onward!!! Talk soon. Fondestos and Cheers, Il Conduttore!
PS: Big small town with respect to Carrelin!
PPS: Looks like some very interesting film fare at Vancity this month so perhaps we can fit some in.
Much more to tell but need to finish this missive. This past Friday morning drove to Little Shuswap to spend weekend with Ruth/Rick, friends from Squamish, at their very comfortable cabin there across the lake from Chase. Even had snow flurries on Saturday so that the surrounding hills received a fairly heavy dusting. R/R have never experienced snow this early there. Earlier that morning Ricardo and I foolishly took a quick, quick Polar Bear Swim and later that afternoon I went for a grand, if short, ride:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/400285564#.UnkIlR7QP40.email
beginning to explore the area. Think I'd be able to put together a 100 km+ ride on the roads there without much trouble so looking forward to next visit. Played loads of bridge and drank loads of wine so a fab time. Nevertheless, we were warm and cosy. The Bowmore, 15 year old, Laimrig, 54.4% and the Tullibardine Sovereign, Bourbon Cask, 43%, I'd brought along helped to keep the chill at bay!
On to Naramata for a whirlwind round of wine tasting on Sunday afternoon. We were in Summerland by 3:00 pm but 8th Generation was closed so on to The Bench. Stopped at Misconduct, then Poplar Grove then La Frenz but winery was closed so we stopped at D'Angelo, a spot we'd not visited before, and then on to Hillside. It had been so quiet, as far as visitors were concerned that the woman in the Tasting Room had closed the doors 15 minutes early. We pounded on the door insistently and loudly enough for her to unbar the front entrance so she was forced to leave off balancing the day's receipts! (We could see her through a small window!) However, she was most congenial and we so we enjoyed a pleasant enough tasting in spite of the fact that the reds were abominable. Not unduly upset however as we were on a "white" mission.

I'm off on Monday, November 19th, to drive to LA to house sit for a cousin of Ayn's. Cora Lee will fly down as she has too, too many important meetings, (having been away for three months!) to take time to drive. Both os us will be back on December 3rd. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
