Chocolate Covered Snowball Blues: Monday, December 16th

One of the oldest human needs is having someone to wonder where you are when you don't come home at night. -Margaret Mead, anthropologist (1901-1978)

Sunset
Patrick James Dunn Grand, grand shot Marvinator! I just returned from my ride around SP and a goodly portion of the surface of English Bay, close to where I was on the Seawall coming out of the West End, had an incredible pink/purple tinge to it. Your wonderful picture confirms what I thought had to be the reason behind the remarkable scene. I literally had to dodge people all along the way who were snapping pictures of the stunning cloud formation and glorious colours. Thanks for capturing this. Of course, I couldn't stop to take my own photograph even though I was carrying my mobile. No Burning Ground for this boy, just a Fiery Firmament. Thanks and Cheers!

The 11th has possibilities for me, the 18th, not so much…

With respect to F***B**k, It is my hope, perhaps naive, to remain amongst the faceless - the internet already sucks too much of my limited brainpower, and it behooves me to resist the onslaught of yet more mass marketing! 8^) cheers, Mark

8^) cheers, Mark
Dear Marcus Aurelius et al the Faceless Wonders of Book World!

You, Dear Limited Brainpower Person, (by your own self-admission), are already a faceless presence with respect to the peloton so I suppose it is only fitting that you extend your invisibility, increase your transparency, so to speak, to an even greater degree with the NRBC. However, I do applaud your stand on mass marketing and feel you should be congratulated for the strength of your suspect convictions.

Speaking of anonymity, I bumped into another NRBC non-presence, your cousin, last evening at a simply wonderful, wonderful concert, The Universal Gospel Choir's Share The Light Celebrating Yule 2013. Simply marvellous performance. Each number was a scintillating vocal gem but the Women's Ensemble's tribute to Harriet Tubman raised the rafters on the church. They had just settled back into place when they were lifted aloft, once again, with the full choir's version of I've Got A Testimony. Franny Beazer did a lot of the heavy lifting with her incredible voice and vocal range. Hallelujah! I have seen the Light, through the bottom of a malt bottle perhaps, but the Light, nonetheless!

Cheers, Unabashedly Face Forward Il Conduttore!

PS: I'm thinking of changing my Facebook picture to one attached. (Photo credit: Admiral Barnacle from his antediluvian archives.)

I’m not sure Branko but when you find out I would call the fashion police! he looks like he could offer some heavy verbal resistance!!.

Hello! Just wanted you to know about our final craft show for this
holiday season. It's on December 22 - details on my blog at:

http://inside-outstyleanddesign.blogspot.com

Loads of great items for sale and many specials! Hope to see you then! Deborah

That picture leaves me almost speechless - I can only say WOW!
 + ^) + cheers,  LPB

Dear LPB et al!

It is quite obvious that you have been banging your head against the wall, with far too much force and far too often as the initialism for Limited Brain Power is LBP. Yours dyslexically, Il Conduttore!

Hi again, LPB  te la:

Os het atrist uffsers rofm dslyxiae as ewll. Whast' oury opint, Macurs Uareuils?

Hi everybody,

If rookies are allowed to give opinionI prefer the 18th as I am already in The Basque Country for christmas and I will arrive in Vancouver the 10th of January. However, I want you to know, I'll be there even though you set the meeting for the 11th (it wont be so easy to get ride of me).
I am 'Jon Artano Izeta' in FCB. Cheers, jon

Hello Rookie Artano Izeta!

Of course you are allowed to give an opinion but please don't expect anyone to take notice of it when you are enjoying yourself with friends and family in The Basque Country while the rest of us are involved in internecine, social media warfare.

Depending on date selected for next NRBC and weather conditions at the time, you might wish to consider riding out to Horseshoe Bay to catch ferry to Nanaimo. If you decide to do this Giorgio and Super Brain Lewis might possibly do the same so you could convoy together. I would probably meet you at Departure Bay to shepherd you past Nicotineville. The Wrath Fiend tends to lob Molotov Cocktails at passing cyclists so one needs to know his smoking break schedule in order to squeak by undetected.

Otherwise, trust all goes well in The Basque Country I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year. Enjoy your holiday and look forward to seeing you in 2014. (You cannot get "ride", (rid), of me that easily!) Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Big Al and Marilyn!

Have been meaning to thank you both for bringing desk over last week. Looks terrific and was grand to have a visit, brief though it was. Gather Chloë has picked out colour for powder coating. Glad Big Al likes my new cycling garb!

With respect to coming up to Sunshine Valley, if Saturday the 28th is convenient, we'd love to come for the night. Let me know about dress code, (In light of Big Al's nasty comment!), and date suitability and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrice,

Great to see you as well and love the pics!. That’s a great thing to do as far as selling Christmas trees goes especially to those well heeled West siders! who can well afford them. Funny also the coincidence of meeting those people that knew your friends.. it is a small world indeed.  I am hopefully picking up the desk unit tomorrow and could install it on Wednesday or Thursday night if you’re available?

Unfortunately we have Ildi and Clay and their kids scheduled to come up on the 28th and 29th but the thirtieth is open if that works for you guys?. As far as dress code goes please try and stay on the top couple of layers of your dresser drawer as any further excavation could yield something I don’t think any of us want to see! Talk to you soon. Cheers, Al
Hi Top Drawer Man!

Listen TDM, there are some pretty funky things a few layers down. Sure you don't want me to start an archeological dig?

About dates for Sunshine, I think the 30th is fine but I'll need to check with Cora Lee once she's back from a meeting later this evening. If we are snowed in we'll just have to celebrate New Year's with you!

Wednesday is out for me as we have a dinner invitation that evening but Thursday should be just dandy. What time did you have in mind? We're back on the Xmas Tree Lot Chain Gang from 1:00-5:00 pm that afternoon so anytime after 6:00 pm or so should work, unless I meet more people I know. In which case, I'll send them along to help with desk! And pay for it!

Will let you know about the 30th as soon as I know. Let me know about Thursday. Fondestos and Cheers, Bottom Drawer Dunn!

Hi again, Big Al! Forgot to attach picture! Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hurray!  Free downloads of the 2014 Bizarre Patent Calendar are at http://www.patex.ca/    The focus this year is on weird inventions for dogs. Enjoy! Ron
Hello Mr Grizzle!

Thanks for the 2014 Bizarre Patent Calendar! Much appreciated.  Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi again, Mr Grizzle. Forgot to send sunset along! Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Pat must have you guys over for dinner some time soon and catch up with all the fun things you are doing hugs Ron

Hi again, Mr Grizzle!

Be great to see you both. Probably in the New Year the way social events are piling up for next few weeks. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Greetings from Nan0ose! It would be great to see you here on January 9th, as we may have to go over on the 10th to fly out. We get back late PM on January 27th (around 10:00PM) Hope to see you for New Year's? Cheers, Gregg

Hi Groggage!

Thanks for dates you'll be away. I was planning on coming over on January 9th. Coriandre and her parentos will probably come over next day as I believe Volunteer Woman has a meeting on the evening of the 9th, unless she can rearrange things. Weather permitting, I'm hoping to ride to HB and then to your place. If this seems not possible, (terrible weather, mainly), I'll let you know, morning of, and then you could collect me at Departure Bay. Anyway, we'll deal with that closer to the time.

Would dearly love to join you for New Year's but we won't be able to do so. Only time we can visit Big Al and Colleen is to overnight on December 30th so just a bit too, too rushed to get over to VI next day, as you can appreciate, I'm sure. We had hoped to spend time with them at their cabin earlier but they were already booked by the time Cora Lee knew her meting schedule! Not sure about Flamin' and Sarge and what their plans, if any, involve. At any rate, thank you for the lovely invitation.

Thank you, again, for the two wonderful bottles of wine for my birthday. Much appreciated. Might try them out this coming Wednesday as we have been invited to dinner with Dawn and Gerry, (Terrace folks), at their place. They are in town to see their children, Stacee and Jeff, and significant others, before Christmas.

Will probably chat over hols. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
As I think of the year we have just had, I sit with mixed emotions.  We have had many wonderful days, and it is these memories that make the difficult days seem not so bad.  Many of us write our newsletter each year to catch up with each other.  Much of this past year has been the same as the last for us.

The major milestone of 2013 was the start of Kindergarten.  I knew my little boys of 2008 would grow up and indeed they have.  They are working on growing to 4 feet tall and have had many opportunities to try activities.

Next year will be a greater challenge with encouraging activities for the boys.  They are exhausted and it is time to let them make a few choices.  It is hard to always be rushing around and having emotional break downs just to get to piano and hockey.  I really hope we can find balance in 2014.

In February, I treated myself to a bigger car as my Civic was getting too small.  I love my heated seats and the back up camera.  It is a nice treat but the bank account has taken quite a hit!

So I think I will leave you with this brief update.  I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy start to 2014. Take Care,
Ariane
Hi Ariane!

Thank you for your Christmas card and great snaps of Damian and Corben. Handsome young men indeed! Grand to hear from you although from tone of your missive it sounds as if you have had an exhausting time over course of last year. Hope you find the balance you are looking for early in 2014.
All the best to you and Doug and the boys, Ariane. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: 66th Birthday bash; sunset today!
Hi Aleteia!

Congrats on being an "Acting Head"! How long have you been doing so? All the best Aleteia. Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Admiral Barnacle!

Thanks so much for the trip down Memory Lane! Was this taken at your 40th birthday party at Vassilis?

Was going to give you a shout about a ride today but decided not to interrupt your digitization project. [Nema odmora Zao]
Will probably chat over next few days. Fondestos and Cheers, A Younger, Handsomer Il Conduttore!

Hi Zoe!

We'd love to see you this coming Friday, if you are still free. Coriandre will be volunteering until 6:00 pm so anytime after 6:30 pm would be grand. [I will be collecting her at Broadway/Main.]

Let us know if Friday is convenient for you two. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

PS: Chloë usually goes on SP miniature train with her girlfriends and their children. Matthew is just a big kid, isn't he? His love of cars and all that!!!

Hi Eva!

I passed along message to Clara and Dusty. How is your weather? Fondestos from Cora Lee to you and John. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Chuckerini!

Thanks for updates on Cossack! Thanks for stealing him away from me!!! We will be house/cat sitting for Groggage on VI until January 27th so we should be around when you and Dennisovitch are in town. You are welcome to stay here. We have a blowup in spare room and I'm sure we can farm out one of you downstairs to Flamin'/Sarge as they are now de-nested as well. Let me know your druthers, (exact dates, etc.), and I'll confirm reservation! Let me know about Pac Coast. Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Hi again, Wild Bill!

Glad you could read latest missive!
Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
