Pre-Departure Blues: Wednesday, June 19th

The heart has its reasons that reason knows nothing of. -Blaise Pascal, philosopher and mathematician (1623-1662)

Tresanton is a lovely hotel, very old & beautiful! And yes, finally recovered from my run & doing another tomorrow, you guys must be getting excited about your trip X Sent from my ihusband4

C-us, How about 9:30 at the Heartbreak Terrace OR 25th and Maple -- your choice. Lemme know, Osric Now here is one we can latch onto...

Still in work mode unfortunately. Ray

Dear Voltimand!

Time for a jaunt to Horseshoe Bay? Or a double-header, Iona/Steveston? Meaning 2 would certainly seem to describe Af! At least we understand his affliction now even if we can't follow his ramblings! Cheers, Cornelius!

Hi Pat, Just a short note to let you know that we no longer seem to have access to your blog (Jambalaya Diaries etc). Last entry I was able to view was on/around May 28th so obviously something happened after that date!No big deal – it was just a good way of keeping up to date with the goings on at the Islay Inn. Hope you are all well – I guess you are getting ready for the trip to Europe.

Things here have been a little up in the air over the last month or two; Tina’s Mum, having just moved back into her nicely refurbished home, was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Treatment options were severely limited because of her state of health; surgery and chemo were ruled out along with high dosage radiotherapy which only left a low dosage radiotherapy regime to hopefully prevent the tumour growing.

My Dad has deteriorated to the stage where he is now looking at full time nursing home care so I am going through the frustratingly depressing task of finding a suitable place for him where he can maintain some modicum of dignity. It’s a frightening insight into the pitfalls of growing old!

Tina had a clean out on her knee about 6 weeks ago and is doing really well; cycling and bush walking almost pain free – I say almost because it’s sometimes difficult to get the true story!

I guess Michelle and Sarge are still over the moon with being Grandparents. Enjoy your overseas sojourn – love to all and sundry Tina and Trevor

Hi Paul and Joan!

Trust you are both well. Have been in touch with Lynne and Peter and they will be here on the 26th. Not quite sure of menu on the 27th just yet but have requested Jugos Dom Padro's fabulous Caesare saladin. Would you mind bringing a dessert? There will be four couples as we've invited Flamin' and Sarge as well. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics from Dram Come True: Sarge being piped into Hycroft; The Scotch Malt Whiskey Society's tasting table; Kathy Shoemaker with escorts; pillar for support after numerous tastings; Swedish masseuses who will be at Beau Soleil this coming September, flanked by Heraldo, left, and Big Al, chatting about treatments for tired, aching muscles after exercise of one sort or another, on one of the many Hycroft patios, between tastings! Murray, I didn't recognize him when we first bumped into each other!

 Hello Simon!

I left a phone message but decided I'd send an email as well, not knowing if you are actually in Vancouver at the present time. I'd like to pay the deposit fee for Beau Soleil before we leave for London on July 10th. I'm happy to pop by your place or you are welcome to drop by our home if you will be around Granville Island at some point. We live almost immediately across from the water park if you know it. At any rate just let me know what works best for you. Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio!

PS: I have attached some directions to our place, should you decide it is convenient to come by.                                  Hi Kids!

Sorry that it has taken me so long to send these along. No excuses but plenty of reasons!

Just a note to say that there will be three more messages, each with a zip file! Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio/Poppa "We Don't Need No Stinkin' Professional Photographers" San!

Hi Los Horridos!

I sent the first message to your Dad but it was blocked. Can you forward any pics that you feel he might like to have. Thanks. Poppa-San!

Hi again, Kids! Hope this file isn't too large! Hi Tinsel Towners et al! Last batch! Cheers, Patrizzio/Dad/Poppa-San!

 Hi Goils of Tinsel Town!

Sorry it has taken me so long to send these pictures from the Alejandro's  graduation party. Must apologize for not having taken any of your faces at the gathering! Ayn will have many more of the ceremony, etc., but just wanted to send these along and say hello. Time is getting closer and closer to our departure date on July10th and scads to do before then. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzzio!

Hi Dunn and Patrick,

These are great pics, thank you, I will share them with the family. Some of the place you mention are familiar grounds to the family- our annual visit to Bridal Falls is more or less becoming our spiritual attraction. We shall reconnect when you return from your next trip. Enjoy.

Janet, let me know when you want to visit or meet on the partnership opportunities. I don't know if you have read the City managers message to City staff, but it is the "Year of Reconciliation", and VPL is participating in story telling. I wonder if that can be tied to our child care? egn

Thank for the photos Patrick! We'll bring dessert for 8 on the 27th. Cheers....Paul

Hi Guys, It was a real pleasure having you both and we look forward to many good times in the future. I’ll try and work on my Bridge playing skills! but at least I think I’m past the big Molly stage. We’ll miss you guys over the summer but I’m sure you’ll keep us informed of your activities in detail of which I will be glad to hear.

We went to the Othello tunnels on Sunday afternoon and it was incredible!! Pat you’d absolutely love this jaunt on the bike. From our place you can just turn onto the Coquihalla highway heading North on the way back from our place and just a couple of K’s before Hope.

It is about 6 K from there to the park which winds around a bunch of country roads running through the woods. Once there you can walk or bike in a couple of K’s and through one of the most incredible feats of engineering you’ve ever seen as in the tunnels cut through the rock. The tunnels are connected by old bridges spanning the chasm with the Coquihalla river below going through the narrow passage where it has smoothed the rocks over Millennia and winds around and down waterfalls.

It’s amazing to think they built all this almost a hundred years ago without the benefit of modern machinery.

From the park the road is almost all downhill to Hope and again is mostly winding along through picturesque countryside on a  nice quiet  two lane highway  through some woods and along gorgeous Kawkawa lake and then to downtown Hope.  We’ll definitely have to put this on the list. Take care for now and have a safe journey. xo Al.

Hi Big Al!

Wow, the Othello Tunnels sound wonderful indeed! Do hope we can visit ther on our next sojourn with you.
Just wondering if you are still up for a ride along Kent, either Saturday or Sunday morning? Let me know as I think Whirlygig and Robo Man might be interested, depending os schedules, weather, etc. Cheers, Patrizzio!
