Valence-d´Agen Blues for Sure Mama: Thursday, October 10th

Perfect order is the forerunner of perfect horror. -Carlos Fuentes (b. 1928)

Greetings from Moissac, O Susannah and Champagne!

Trust you are both well and enjoying being eaten alive by lions or trampled by elephants! Only two more full days on the canla so trying to log as many rides as possible, such is the delight of cycling here. Fondestos from Cora Lee to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

We are away in South Africa and will return Saturday, October 26. We will have limited access to emails while we are away, and we will get back to you as soon as we return.
Should you have an emergency, please contact our Vacation Relief Team by email at bookings@tpi.ca or by phone at 1-800-231-3204 ext 205. Office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm CST. Thanks, Charlie & Susan

Hello from Moissac, Dennisovich!!

Trust you are both well and enjoying Vancouver weather! Gather September was one of wettest on record. Not quite sure how I'm going to adapt to having to ride in the rain, once back! Only two more full days on the canal so trying to log as many rides as possible, such is the delight of cycling here. Fondestos from Cora Lee to you and Claire. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello from Moissac, Joan and Paolo!!

Trust you are both well. I assume you might be in Berlin now. How were the northern Italian gardens, Joan? How did your "surprise" presentation go, Professore? Fondestos from Cora Lee to you and Joan. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello from Moissac, Lurking and Petros!!

Trust you are both well. I assume you are somewhere between Ho Chi Minh City and The Naramata. Will be very curious to hear all about your travels in the mysterious Orient. Enjoyed all your snaps so thanks for sending them along, as well as your descriptions of life on the road in China. Wish I could send you a case or two of all the fabulous wines we have found here.

Gather September was one of wettest on record for Vancouver so that our gang can be happy that we've missed the deluges. Not quite sure how I'm going to adapt to having to ride in the rain, once back! (Or get used to price of wine!) Only two more full days on the canal so trying to log as many rides as possible, such is the delight of cycling here.

We plan on spending the weekend of November 1st-3rd at Little Shuswap with friends, Ruth/Rick, from Squamish, at their place across from Chase, so if you are around and might like an overnight visit, let us know. We are thinking of trying to see Barb/Lynne, (Do you remember them from Guayabitos?), outside Salmon Arm, (if they are not back in Mexico by then), as well. Fondestos from Cora Lee to you, Jugos, and Lurkette. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Bonjour Patricio,  I'm sorry to hear that your European jaunt is almost over.   What a great time you must have had.

I saw Lynnie off this morning for her flight home via Guangzhou (formerly Canton) on China Southern Airlines.  I'm leaving this evening for Johannnesburg via Dubai on Air Emirates, which should be a nice although long trip.  My colleague in Johannesburg is taking me to see a game park on Saturday, then Sunday we fly together to Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Our Vietnam/Cambodia trip was quite an eye opener.  Cambodia is incredibly poor. obviously damaged so badly by the Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot years that it just hasn't caught up.  The temples around Ankhor Wat are really fascinating, but on the whole the country has little to recommend it.  Phnom Penh, the capital, is the dirtiest city I've ever seen, with garbage strewn everywhere.  Vietnam on the other hand is clean and full of vitality.  Hanoi was interesting but not nearly as nice as Saigon (Ho Ch Minh City) where we are now.  Saigon is quite elegant and seems quite liveable (once you get used to the swarms of motorbikes).  Our cruise down the Mekong River was the real highlight.  We were among only 48 passengers on the boat so made some good friends.  Looking forward to seeing y ou and telling you all about it.

A visit following your Shuswap visit would be great.  You'd have to make do with my mundane malt selection, but we do have a few decent Okanagan wines, and I believe also a bottle of pastis if you're still in withdrawal. Safe travels home. Peter

Hello from Moissac Big Al Die Kommissar!

Trust you are fully recovered by now. Was sorry to learn about your nasty knee re-injury and collateral damage. I have nothing but sympathy for you, given my own squash and cycling injuries. Nice fish, by the way! Fondestos from Cora Lee to you and Cheryl. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello from Moissac, Kjell!

Trust you are both well. Unlike Paul, I've not read Barney's Version but have seen the film. I agree, Paul Giametti was terrific. Have you seen anything at VIFF? Some very interesting films, according to newsletters. Just to bad I'm not omnipresent. Being omnipotent and omniscient are enough work as it is! Fond regards from Cora Lee to you and Jane. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello from Moissac, Colin and Jo-Anne!

Trust you are both well. Fond regards from Cora Lee to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrick, Thanks for getting in touch. As I mentioned on Facebook yesterday, we went to a fabulous film about and with Gore Vidal. Absolutely terrific! I would have to go to many more but for some reason it hasn't been convenient. Tomorrow, the last day of the festival, we're going to "Liv & Ingmar" (about Liv Ullman and Ingmar Bergman). I read a review that said it is absolutely pathetic ("Ingmar Bergman, had he been forced to watch it, would have puked"), so that will be interesting. When will you be home? Kjell

Pat,

Good to hear from you.  I was worried when I hadn't heard in several weeks.  You should be helping with getting the pirate ship through the locks.  Not good to leave these complex manoeuvres to amateurs.  Glad you are enjoying your vacation.  Wonderful photos.  Claire is enjoying them too. Dennis

Knee is nearly fully recovered now, thank you.  Remember that tale I told centering on "Alles Klar!"   You gotta see this to appreciate the origins of that woman's rejoinder:
It turns out that the origins of her rejoinder were not the catch phrase of some East German Stasi wannabes; rather, it emerges that a German rapper from the 80s started it all.  The internet is a huge attic crammed with such odds and bits of human history.
